Amy Charles

MODERN, TAP, CONTEMPORARY AND ACRO TEACHER

Amy is a fully qualified dance teacher, accredited by the ISTD, IDTA, Rambert Grades, and Acrobatic Arts. She began her teaching journey as Head of Modern and Tap at the Euridge School of Dancing in Exeter before founding the Charles Academy of Dance in Crediton. Throughout her career, Amy has provided expert tuition, exam preparation, and performance opportunities to countless young dancers—many of whom have gone on to train at professional performance colleges and join prestigious associate programmes.

As an experienced choreographer, Amy has created work for All England Dance Festivals, stage productions, and pantomimes, and has served as a guest judge at dance competitions. She has also contributed to large-scale collaborative performances as part of the Crediton Learning Community, an education collective of local primary schools, staging productions at Exeter’s Great Hall. Amy furthered her higher-level dance teacher training with Swindon Dance, where she studied the ISTD Level 6 Diploma in Dance Pedagogy.

Alongside her dance qualifications, Amy holds a BA (Hons) in Public Relations from Bournemouth University and, in 2021, completed a PGCE in Primary Teaching via Bath Spa University. Following this, she was appointed as a Key Stage Two Class Teacher. She is also a trained Youth Mental Health First Aider and is passionate about inclusive education, with extensive experience supporting children with special educational needs.

Amy is delighted to be combining her academic teaching expertise with her lifelong passion for the performing arts, continuing to inspire and nurture young learners both in the classroom and in the studio.
